How to choose the optimal soundproofing - heatproofing material for each customer's needs.
When you decide to soundproof a room inside your home or office, you need to pay attention to a few aspects. Whether you choose Rockwool or glass wool to do the job, they need to do more than block sound. Fire  resistance and sustainability are factors that must be included in the process.
Rockwool or fiberglass, your material of choice?
Proper soundproofing will determine the quality of your environment. Whether in your home, office or recording studio, preventing sound from causing damage is essential. But which one is a better choice?
Structure:
Fiberglass is made from finely woven glass fibers rolled into rolls or blankets of material. Varied shapes and sizes make it suitable for any wall cavity.
Rockwool has a similar structure only the fibers are made of stone. Its space-filling properties and ability to adapt to space and structure are quite similar.
Sustainability:
Both of these materials are environmentally friendly. However, rockwool comes with 75% recyclable content. Fiberglass contains an average of 20-30% recyclable content according to the US Department of Energy.
Fire safety:
Rockwool and fiberglass are equally mineral raw materials. Their response to heat and fire hazards is a great advantage. Not being flammable, they do not sustain fire or help it spread. But, due to its higher density, rockwool is more resistant than fiberglass.
Rockwool mineral fibers can withstand temperatures up to 1000°C (1800°F) while glass fibers melt around 600°C (1100°F). Rockwool would be a more effective choice for fire protection.
